Myanmar regained her independence and sovereignty on the 4th of January, 1948. This year will mark the 71st anniversary of our independence.

There is just one day to go before 2018 ends and a new year begins. It is simply natural for time to usher us into a new future every year. Change is a part of nature,

Nations across the globe value their independence. They all have, at some point, made sacrifices, taken great risks, and struggled to attain or protect their independence through the collective will of their people.

Myanmar is an independent and sovereign nation. Just before Myanmar became free, the architect of our independence, Bogyoke Aung San, said our people would have to make strenuous efforts for 10 to 20 years after independence to carry out the task of rebuilding and developing the country.

Generally speaking, independence means regaining lost sovereignty, territorial integrity, and liberty. Independence is peace and vice versa. No one can deny the fact that Myanmar is an independent and sovereign country. But peace still eludes the nation.
